In ancient times, our ancestors are said to have lived in harmony with nature. They revered nature, acknowledged one another, and tapped into the power of plants and minerals, while cultivating a strong sense of spirituality. During their era, hemp was an indispensable resource. The Jomon people, in particular, were known for their robust health, with very few signs of illness or infection. This has led to speculations about a possible connection between their well-being and hemp. Perhaps their use of hemp clothing and consumption of hemp played a role in this remarkable state of health. Could there be a connection?

We support women's challenges through fashion. This time, we have a collaborative pop-up with the grandmothers from Ibusuki, Kagoshima. They are in charge of sewing. The shop name, VIVINCO, is derived from the Kagoshima dialect “bibinko,” which means “piggyback ride.” When I used to get a piggyback ride from my father as a child, I experienced a mix of fear when going to high places and the excitement of seeing a different view than usual. The emotions from that time and the feelings when taking on a challenge are similar, which is why we chose this name for the shop

With the slogan “Creating Japan's Future, Achieving Sustainability,” we at HATSUTORI make efficient use of resources, working towards environmental improvements from Miyazaki to the world. At HATSUTORI, we produce pure Japanese biochar by utilizing driftwood accumulating in dams. Instead of felling trees, we focus on repurposing waste and recycled resources into charcoal, thus contributing to a sustainable society. Our mission at HATSUTORI is to protect future resources and breathe life into waste materials.
